Koopa and Birdo came to us as strays roaming the streets all by themselves. They aren't sure why they ended up in a shelter at such young ages but they are ready to find their forever homes with a fresh start! This lovely brother/sister duo are very timid and shut down. Things currently are overwhelming and very scary right now. We are working on gaining confidence on the leash and being around new people. We have been making progress slowly but surely! It would be best to go slow with them and allow them the time to become comfortable with new people and situations. They are not all that comfortable with being handled just yet so allowing them to have their own space is best. They would benefit from reward-based training as they learn potty training and their foundational manners. They would also benefit from continued socialization with other dogs, people, sights, and sounds! While these two seem to do well with one another, adopting them together is not a requirement. Even though they seem to get along with one another, if you have other animals in your home, we still recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Koopa home. If you are interested in meeting Koopa, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit.
